About Our Classes

My name is Di, I am a mum to 2 little girls and I have been running Kangatraining classes for 6 years.

I am passionate about women’s health and providing a fun, welcoming and supporting environment for mums and their babies.  Our classes are a place where everyone can come to experience the benefits of getting moving in a way that is safe for your body as it recovers from pregnancy and birth.   They offer the opportunity to be active while wearing your baby or toddler (or even having your older child join in with you!).  We finish our classes with chat time, offering you the chance for some social connection to get to know other mums in your area!

All fitness levels are welcome at Kangatraining – whether you’ve never done a day of exercise in your life or whether you’ve always been quite active and you’re looking for a class that can accomodate your baby, without putting them in a creche.

Please see below for FAQ.  If you can’t find the answers you’re looking for, please email kangatrainingindro@barrett.red and I’ll be happy to help further.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Kangatraining?

Kangatraining is a babywearing return-to-exercise class.  It is a total body, low impact workout.  Our program focuses on functional fitness and low impact cardio fitness as well as re-strengthening your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles – all while carrying your baby.

When can I start Kangatraining post birth?

You can begin Kangatraining as early as 6 weeks postpartum if you’ve had a vaginal delivery and 12 weeks postpartum if you’ve had a c-section, once you’ve had the all clear from your health professional.

What if I don’t have a suitable carrier?

If you don’t have a carrier, you are able to hire a carrier for $2 per class.

Looking to buy a carrier?  We sell a range of brands!  Ask what specials and discounts are available to our Kangamums!

Can I bring an older sibling?

Older children are more than welcome!

What if I have an unsettled baby?

Do whatever you need to during class, your bub comes first.  Feel free to stop and feed or change them during class.  We are all mums and we have all been there!

What if my baby hates the carrier?

We are trained in babywearing and can assist with fitting and/or adjusting your carrier.  Sometimes the smallest adjustments can help to make bub more comfortable!  If bub is really unhappy and it’s making you anxious or uncomfortable, you are welcome to have them watch from the pram or a bouncer!

What is your missed class policy?

We know that bad days and sickness happen!  We run make up classes at the end of each term in case you need to miss a class.  In order to qualify for a make up class, two hours notice is required for non-attendance.  You are also able to swap to other Kangatraining IS&C locations throughout the term if something comes up on the day of your enrolled class.  Make up classes must be used in the same term.  We also offer casual class passes if you think you’ll need a lot of days off.
